KITTIES, KITTIES, KITTIES
We just had a tame kitty dumped at Santa Anita Race track and
she had kittens this week. If any body would be interested in
this kitty and or a kitten it would be fabulous. Of course
she's not ready now and we usually don't let kittens go till 7
or 8 weeks old. It's important to move cats out of Santa Anita
Race Track because they have cruel practices toward cats, like
having the animal control round them up, of not allowing us
to feed them in the summer, and laying down poison, since the
cats are hungry they eat the poisoned rodents. We try to move
as many of the cats out of the track, but there aren't enough
people to take them. A few years ago, the track security was
shooting them with a 22 cal. I called the Arcadia police, and
Pasadena humane society and the Feral Cat Society. There was
an investigation although no one was charged. Vast majority of
these kitties are tame and just waiting for a home. They are
neutered, vaccinated and some have been treated for fleas and
worms. We try to do everything we can at our own expense and
we have made a huge difference but people keep dumping
cats. The majority of my cats come from the track and during
the summer when the track closes, I take a few and put them
in a stall in my barn until Santa Anita opens again.
Please if anybody would like to rescue a kitty......
For those that missed the meeting at the Fire
Station. We had the representative from the Watt Communities
speaking & giving an update on their project. Watt has a "Specific
Plan" in the Gavilan Hills area. This project site is basically
between Valley & Olive on the north side of Lake Mathews Dr., in the
Gavilan Peak area. It will have 400+ homes, school, open space &
amphitheater in the park area. Two staging arenas & bridle trails.
Total 1200 acres to be included in the Specific Plan amendment, 725
acres will be preserved as open space. That doesn't include the
school, which will be another 18 acres. The developer is giving land
over to the County Parks Dept. that will just about double the size
of Harford Springs Park, a habitat preserve area. The project will
have 1 acre+ larger lots. There will be a parking area at Harford
Springs. Road work will be done, Gavilan road will be relined. The
amphitheater, is where the community will be able to set up concerts
in the park & hold other community events & such. The new school
will be K-8 and there are efforts underway to collect signatures to
change the school district zoning so that all the Gavilan Hills
residents can use the school. It will pull all of the Gavilan
Plateau into the Corona/Norco School District. So if you are a
registered voter and haven't signed, please contact Cindy Ferry at
951-657-6610 or email her at
CindyRAGLM@aol.com
(best way to reach her) so she can get your
signature. (If you live in the Mobile Home Park, your signatures are
needed badly) Construction will not begin until 2012. The project is
expected to go before Planning Commission later this year. As I find
out more I will be more than happy to update. So if you would like
to see the project, just click on this link below.
An idea is spreading
thanks to a Paramedic
who found when at the
scene of an accident.
There were always cell
phones with patients.
Not knowing which # to
call in an emergency
situation, he came up with
the idea of storing
it under ICE. Emergency
service personnel &
hospital stall would know
to call. If you have
more than one contact
name, simply enter
ICE1, ICE2 & ICE3
etc.. A great idea that
could save your life or
your loved ones!! Let's
spread the concept of ICE
by storing an ICE#
in our cell phones
today!!

Debbie took this picture around 5pm, she went
outside, looking west over the hills. Saw this cloud form of a heart. Debbie
wonders if anyone saw the same cloud that night. It's so beautiful!! Only in Gavilan Hills!

Subject: Beware of the RaddleSnakes!!
Pete was out in the hills with his metal detector and it seems he was only finding very big snakes. This guy below
was about 6' long. Does any know how old a raddle snake is with this many raddles?? I'm counting 14 -15 of them.
No snakes were hurt while taking pictures. :)

Rural Commercial Comes to The Greater Lake
Mathews Community
A new shopping center is being
planned for the corner of Cajalco Rd. and Gustin Rd.
If you know the
location of the fire station, you know the location for this new center, just
across the street and to the left of the Lake Mathews Market.Currently on the plans are a gas station with
four pumps and a mini mart - to be open 24/7, a fast-food/drive-thru – to be
open 24/7 and a business complex with a market and three or four other store
fronts that will be leased out.
This project is now before the Riverside County Planning
Commission and is open for public input. Our
County General Plan is currently under review and the element of “Rural
Commercial” will allow commercial business along the major roadways of rural,
unincorporated Riverside County.There
are currently about 38 types of businesses that could go in under the “Rural
Commercial” element.This project will
be just one of the first of many and there are many General Plan Amendment
Requests before the county, to change zoning from its current rural status to
“Rural Commercial.”
More info. on this project, you can call
Cindy Ferry, Community Spokesperson, @ 657-6610 from 7 a.m. & 7
p.m.

THE ANSWER
About every two weeks this Spay &
Neuter Van shows up at the Mead
Valley Community Center. I have taken 1
dog in and 3 for my mother in law so far. It's great, if you
have already spay & neutered your
pet & only wish to get the shots, license & chipped. You can take care
of that also. Chipping is only $15. All county prices. They don't do large dogs (sometimes they will take the boys)
at the van, if they are unable to take your dog, they will make appointment at
the county shelter for you.
Give them a call at
1-888-664-5166.
If you need financial help with fixing your pets
Actors & Others can help. Set up your appointment.
The board of RAGLM meet with the developers for the lot that
sits
on the north-east corner of La Sierra and El Sobrante. They
have
a GPA before the county that was just approved that week.
They
will be looking to build a gas station and one business
venture.
RAGLM went over a list of business uses they thought the
community would be agreeable to and let them know which
ones they didn't think you would want. RAGLM addressed
traffic and accident rates at this corner. The community
meet
at Fire Station on Jan 20th to give their input. Will keep
you
updated for any events or changes this project will bring.
Lake Mathews Fire Station
Western Municipal Water District Operations Center
Groundbreaking Ceremony---Took place on Thursday, July 16th, 2009---
At 16453 El Sobrante Road, Riverside, Ca. 92503---I just thought I would leave this up so that
everyone could see what the new Fire Station will look like. It will be a great place for all of the RAGLM community
meeting when it is built.
It has recently come to my attention, due to the economy, that some
people cannot afford to feed their horses. We, can all
understand financial difficulties. Please, let's not let forget the
horses. They can not speak for themselves. I, personally experienced
something this A.M. That will forever change my heart. I would like to
start a foundation to help save the horses in Nuevo. I would like to offer
a "safe" place for the horses. Please, don't drop them off on the side of
the road. If, you are having problems, please call first. I will be more
than happy to place your horse's), in a place that will be beneficial to
their needs. Laurie (951)398-6031
