Debbie took this picture around 5pm, she went outside, looking west over the hills.  Saw this cloud form of a heart.  Debbie wonders if anyone saw the same cloud that night.  It's so beautiful!! Only in Gavilan Hills!

Subject: Beware of the RaddleSnakes!!

Pete was out in the hills with his metal detector and it seems he was only finding very big snakes. This guy below was about 6' long. Does any know how old a raddle snake is with this many raddles?? I'm counting 14 -15 of them. No snakes were hurt while taking pictures. :)

Rural Commercial Comes to The Greater Lake Mathews Community

A new shopping center is being planned for the corner of Cajalco Rd. and Gustin Rd.

If you know the location of the fire station, you know the location for this new center, just across the street and to the left of the Lake Mathews Market.  Currently on the plans are a gas station with four pumps and a mini mart - to be open 24/7, a fast-food/drive-thru – to be open 24/7 and a business complex with a market and three or four other store fronts that will be leased out. This project is now before the Riverside County Planning Commission and is open for public input. Our County General Plan is currently under review and the element of “Rural Commercial” will allow commercial business along the major roadways of rural, unincorporated Riverside County.  There are currently about 38 types of businesses that could go in under the “Rural Commercial” element.  This project will be just one of the first of many and there are many General Plan Amendment Requests before the county, to change zoning from its current rural status to “Rural Commercial.” More info. on this project, you can call Cindy Ferry, Community Spokesperson, @ 657-6610 from 7 a.m. & 7 p.m.

TOWELS & BLANKETS NEEDED FOR RIVERSIDE SHELTER
I am collecting donations of towels & blankets for the Riverside--Animal Shelter, per their request.  The dog/kitten season has taken it's toll on their immediate supply. Our group of cat rescuers pull 85% of our Petsmart adoptable cats from this shelter-"just prior to euthanasia".

A).. You can drop your donation off at Petsmart in Corona, cat adoptions, located at 573 N. McKinley Avenue, Corona (cross street Promenade)   B)..or...Call or email me & I will come and pick-up. I live near Lake Mathews/Rolling Meadows.

Boulder Springs
Boulder Springs is a large project, off the corner of Cajalco Rd. and Wood. The project encompasses both sides of Cajalco Roadway.  On the one corner of Cajalco and Wood (where the homes are already being built) is a large open lot.  This is a commercial lot.  The developer is asking the county to allow them to break that commercial lot into eight smaller commercial lots so that it will be easier for them to find people interested in opening or moving their business to this parcel of land.  It's much easier to sell eight smaller lots to eight different business owners then it is to find eight businesses that want to enter into a lease/buy option in a business complex.  In order to broaden their ability to sell the commercial part of the project, they want to open up that possibility by splitting the lots into eight business lots.  Much like what Lake Mathews Square is in the process of doing ... turning the one lot into three smaller business, commercial lots.  Someone might still want to buy the whole lot and develop a commercial center, but in order to broaden their ability to build out that commercial lot, they would like the option to split it and sell them off in smaller pieces.
There are no project designs, as there are no buyers for this commercial piece of property at this time.  The developer will only be coming to speak to the community on why they are asking for the split and what they hope to accomplish by getting that done. The developer is looking to get input from the community on how they would feel about that. THE ANSWER
About every two weeks this Spay & Neuter Van shows up  at the Mead
Valley Community Center. I have taken 1 dog in and 3 for my mother in law so far. It's great, if you
have already spay & neutered your pet & only wish to get the shots, license & chipped. You can take care of that also. Chipping is only $15. All county prices. They don't do large dogs (sometimes they will take the boys) at the van, if they are unable to take your dog, they will make appointment at the county shelter for you.
Give them a call at 1-888-664-5166.

RAGLM COMMUNITY MEETING
The board of RAGLM meet with the developers for the lot that sits on the north-east corner of La Sierra and El Sobrante. They have a GPA before the county that was just approved that week. They will be looking to build a gas station and one business venture.
RAGLM went over a list of business uses they thought the community would be agreeable to and let them know which ones they didn't think you would want.  RAGLM addressed traffic and accident rates at this corner.  The community meet at Fire Station on Jan 20th to give their input. Will keep you updated for any events or changes this project will bring.

Horse Help
It has recently come to my attention, due to the economy, that  some people cannot afford to feed their horses. We, can all understand financial difficulties. Please, let's not let forget the horses. They can not speak for themselves. I, personally experienced something this A.M. That will forever change my heart. I would like to start a foundation to help save the horses in Nuevo. I would like to offer a "safe" place for the horses. Please, don't drop them off on the side of the road. If, you are having problems, please call first. I will be more than happy to place your horse's), in a place that will be beneficial to their needs.
